By the time August hits, the summer season is in full swing. That means the calendar in Niagara-on-the-Lake is packed with events. The best thing about August is that there are events all throughout the week — not just weekends! So no need to worry about missing out if you can’t make it out to NOTL on Saturdays or Sundays.
Lakelands is one of the region’s most popular B&Bs, offering accommodations all days of the week. Your hosts, June and Zoli, are happy to host visitors during this wonderful month. So read our August guide and take part in some of the exciting events this pretty little town has to offer!
26th Annual Peach Festival: Saturday, August 13th
Don’t miss a celebration of NOTL’s favourite fruit: The Peach! An annual event, the famous Peach Festival is a hit with tourists and locals alike. The historic Queen Street is lined with local peach growers, selling their delicious fruits. Restaurants and bakeries are also there, offering everything from peach pies to fresh peach jams. And no Peach Festival is complete without some entertainment from local artists. This year, five Canadian bands will provide live music: The Toronto All Star Band, David Hoy, The Local Fife and Drum, St. Catharines Pipe Band and The Ben Show.
The region’s largest music festival enters its 18th season. This annual event is already underway, and doesn’t wrap until mid-August. Check out a spectacular lineup of Canadian acts, featuring country, jazz, choral and classical genres. Concerts are held at various venues throughout Niagara-on-the-Lake. This year’s festival schedule can be found here. You can also save money by purchasing 3 or more tickets all at once! Book passes for this five-week festival directly from Music Niagara. Remember: Concerts happen throughout the week — not just weekends. So there’s never a problem finding a show that accommodates your schedule.
Willowbank Presents: Niagara Gems
Throughout the entire month of August, spend some time learning about the works of Niagara’s finest architects: A.E. Nicholson and R.I. Macbeth. The exhibit is organized by Willowbank Centre, a local school offering three-year Diplomas in heritage conservation programs. If you’re interested in how Niagara-on-the-Lake got some of its charm, visit the Willowbank campus for this intriguing architectural exhibit.
Food Trucks in the Vineyard – Coyote’s Run: Saturday, August 13th
Coyote’s Run is one of NOTL’s most popular vineyards. On Saturday, August 13th, the estate winery will be filled with the region’s finest food trucks. Each truck will be serving up delightful meals and local treats. This year’s big feature is ‘Southern Smoke’. The vineyard promises plenty of seating room, so be sure to bring your friends for a fabulous afternoon of food and drink. The event runs all day from 12pm – 6pm.
