Here at Niagara-on-the-Lake, we like to celebrate all sorts of occasions — especially Father’s Day. Many people think our little town is lots of fun for the ladies, and not necessarily a treat for the men. But this week’s article is here to set the record straight: There are tons of activities for the special men in our lives, especially if you’re looking to celebrate this upcoming Father’s Day!

Whether you’re heading down Sunday, June 18th or planning a post-Father’s Day retreat — check out our guide for a bunch of activities he won’t want to miss!

May the course be with you…

Scenic views, good food and perfect greenery as far as the eye can see. That’s what you’ll find at the Niagara-on-the-Lake Golf Club. Open to both public and private guests, this course is one of North America’s oldest. You can play for 9 holes or 18 on picturesque fairways. And after a full session in the sun, don’t forget to treat your senses at the famous Clubhouse Restaurant & Bar. Check out a sampling of their menu and see what the club’s executive chef is cooking up!

Who says spas are just for the ladies?

Many of the award-winning spas at Niagara-on-the-Lake offer treatments tailored just for men. Many of our guests enjoy the facials at Oban Spa that are designed specifically for male guests. The soothing hydration treatment helps alleviate dry, rough skin while the anti-aging treatment stimulates tired cells and smooths out wrinkles. If facials aren’t your thing, there’s nothing wrong with opting for a traditional deep tissue massage. You’ll certainly need it after a day on the green!

Here fishy, fishy, fishy!

When we think of fishing in Ontario, Niagara-on-the-Lake doesn’t always pop into mind. But did you know the Niagara River is one of the province’s most acclaimed fishing spots? Set out on a boat and try your luck at Chinook Salmon, Rainbow Trout and even Brown Trout. If heading out on your own seems intimidating, why not join one of NOTL’s popular fishing tours? Niagara Fishing Adventures is currently offering excursions that run until October!

Breweries are a man’s best friend

You could say everyday feels like Father’s Day at NOTL’s world-famous breweries. Check out some of Canada’s finest craft beers and take a behind-the-scenes tour to see how your favourite brews are produced. Oast House Brewers is a popular destination with an amazing patio space and weekly events. But be warned that weekends can get quite busy. So if you’re looking to do a tasting, be sure to block off enough time so you’re not feeling rushed. The Exchange Brewery on Queen Street also has excellent reviews of their tasting menus. Service is prompt and friendly, with a good group of knowledgeable staff.
